Privacy Policy — Chess Coach: Openings

This Privacy Policy describes how the mobile application Chess Coach: Openings (the “App”) handles your information. The App is published by Driftspark Labs (“we”, “us”), an independent developer based in Belgium.

TL;DR

• We don’t run our own servers and we don’t collect personal information about you.
• The App stores your settings and progress only on your device.
• On Android, we show ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect technical information (advertising ID, device characteristics, approximate location, IP address) to serve and measure ads. You can control this through your device’s ad settings and through the consent prompt the App will show on first launch in the EU.
• No accounts. No analytics (yet). No selling of your data.

1. Information stored on your device

The App stores the following locally, using your device’s secure preferences storage:

• Your theme choice (light / dark / system).
• Your chosen chess-board color palette.
• Whether sounds are enabled.
• Your high scores per opening and side.
• Your “kings” balance and the timestamp of the last daily refill.
• Whether you have unlocked any in-app purchases (when this feature ships).

This information never leaves your device and is not accessible to us. Uninstalling the App removes all of it.

2. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App uses Google AdMob to show rewarded video ads, which let you earn additional in-app currency (“kings”). AdMob is operated by Google LLC.

When you watch an ad, AdMob may process:

• A non-permanent advertising identifier issued by your device (Android Advertising ID / Apple IDFA), which you can reset or disable at any time in your device settings.
• Your device model, OS version, language, time zone, and coarse location.
• Your IP address.
• Information about ad interactions (impressions, clicks, completions).

Google uses this information to deliver ads, measure ad performance, and combat fraud, in accordance with its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

EU / EEA / UK / Switzerland users

If you are located in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, the App displays a consent message before any personalized advertising is shown, using Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP). You can:

• Consent to personalized ads, or
• Choose non-personalized ads, in which case ads are served without targeting based on your interests.

You can change your choice at any time through the Settings → Privacy choices option inside the App.

3. In-app purchases (future)

If and when in-app purchases are enabled, they are processed by Google Play Billing. We never receive or store your payment details — Google handles the transaction. We only learn that a specific purchase was completed by your account, so we can unlock the corresponding entitlement on your device.

4. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, please contact us so we can investigate.

5. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict the processing of, or port your personal data, and to object to processing. Because we do not collect personal information directly, most of these rights apply to data held by Google AdMob — please refer to Google’s privacy policy linked above for the relevant request channels.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données) at https://www.dataprotectionauthority.be.

6. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
